Saab 9-3 / 9-5 Key reader / Ring cover - "key not accepted" fix. - This unit is plug & play, requires NO dealership programming.

Up for sale is a good used Saab 9-3 / 9-5 Key trim ring / Key chip reader.  This unit, which is basically a trim ring that surrounds the key also has an antenna assembly which plugs into the immobilizer and reads the internal key transponder when the key is inserted, and releases the immobilizer, allowing the car to start.  There are many reasons why you may be getting a failure to start and a "key not accepted" message on your SID display, a defective key reader IS one of them.  Do proper diagnosis!  In addition to key not accepted issues, these also have a fragile clip method of installing these trim rings (twist and pull) - if this is not done properly, the clips will simply snap right off!  This one is good, works properly, and is listed at about 1/5 the new part price!  Cosmetically this unit is used, but still nice.
